I have been an AAU Coach & Tournament director for almost 12 years and the rush of watching young kids flourish into productive adults keep me living. I was blessed to coach one of the best AAU teams of all time which featured Jahlil Okafor and five other division 1 athletes. We won AAU Nationals Back2Back in Cocoa Beach Florida & Hampton VA. What I learned from that team and all the kids that I have been blessed to be around has made me blossom into the man that i am today. Born in St.Louis and being a Missouri State alumni was just a small part of my lifelong journey. Myself (Coach "T") along with Larry Sutton are the directors of the Coach "T" Classic. It's a beautiful thing to watch some of these young kids go from their AAU teams, to High School, to college, and some even pro. Our 3-game guarantee basketball tournament is put together so teams can come here to compete against some of the best talent in the world, this way they can visualize where their game needs to be and how much better they need to be to get to the next level. My advice to the parents is to make sure your kids have fun while growing up playing the game of basketball. Don't let Coaches and scouts turn this game into a business. Parents don't let your kids play down in a younger grade only because the coach wants to win. In the long run it only hurts your kid. Play him or her in his right grade and challenge your son or daughter to get better.
